Now Is The Time...

In the Carolina Piedmont, autumn is the time to sow lawns and pastures, plant trees and shrubs, and establish or divide perennials.

Dewy nights, autumnal rain - sometimes hurricanes - and winter snows help plants establish root systems, able to withstand the rigors of our droughty summers.

Now is also the time to plant for color to please the eye and delight the palate during the coming winter months.  Imagine rainbow chard sparkling with golden and violet pansies in your window box, while bok choy, jade broccoli and purple kale brighten your dreary perennial border.  Beautiful, fragrant edible gardens are possible during fall and winter; now is the time to get started.
