Welcome Nature Into Your Space
In 1978 I bought 20+ acres of forest on Dodson's Crossroads in Orange Grove - land sloping south to springs and a wet weather creek. Long before, deer were hunted here. My son, Peter, picked up a perfect stone-knapped arrowhead as we were grading the road into the farm. Over the years I have learned how to burn and spread windrows, build a road, create berms, and swales to improve drainage and conserve water. Perhaps most importantly, I have learned how to establish and maintain proper manure piles, and when and how to spread the resulting compost. Now the hillsides of Finnabar Farm and Green Pony Garden are fenced patures, the springs, once a hunt of moonshiners, feed a pond. Come visit me and I can help you plan, create and maintain landscapes that respect the spirit of your space (seasons, soil and climate), and welcome nature. Select and purchase organically grown plants, and seeds, raised and harvested from my gardens. It is a holistic approach to gardening that every person, you and I, can be part of with little effort and cost.
